Film is not dead for many reasons. Film captures the true beauty of a picture. Film also blends the natural colors of the photo better than digital does. This is because digital uses millions of small square pixels to form the picture while film doesn't spilt up the picture as much. It allows you to see the subject in full frame because it does not have the 1.5 crop factor that digital does. Film also allows you to mix uneven light together with no problem unlike digital.
Although it is more work to shoot and develop film, it pushes you to be a better photographer. You have to understand the exposure and the way the light is interacting with the subject and how the camera will react to it.
People who shoot digital do not know these things because digital is much simpler. That sets you apart from people who shoot digital and gives you the advantage because you can use any type of camera and you are able to shoot in all different conditions.
